I'm just so used to Ableton's workflow- is there any way to get back this punch and get rid of this phasey sound? It's so weird to me that people still believe this is just a myth - do the self test with a decent sound card. It lost a lot of punch while logic played the file back just fine - why is this? This is exactly what digital jitter sounds like when you don't clock a device correctly, so I'm guessing the audio engine inside Ableton has some downsampling going on due to it originally being coded for live use or something. Ableton's playback engine smeared the transient, and made it sound like it was an MP3 file. So much so that I had to compare Logic and Ableton ( my main DAW) myself. Well, I did the test with a group of people and we compared all major daws summing the same stems - the result was that there were pretty big differences. I know I know, according to people who never wrote a code all the daws sound the same. Probably a resentful decision cuz Vangelis is into Bitwig We humans can't get rid of our religious attitude, no matter which science we look at. It's like the fall of Rome just with audio. Jokes aside, a lot of media composers use Logic, you'll find the most ardent DP and Logic users amongst Japanese JRPG composers. Oh yeah the clarity and punchiness definetly stemmed from the fact that they were using Logic and not because they knew what they were doing <.< I think it has been ages since someone recommended me PT.Īlso, for Logic see the quote above, everyone who advised that before the PDC fix had no idea what he was talking. Very close actually, but fortunately fixed a few months ago. It's too late, forgive us father for we have sinned ![]() Roberts golden rule still stands: All DAW's sound the same if you disable all their features - export at the same bit and samplerate, don't touch pan or volume and you should be fine.ĭigital summing will always null out if you do what I wrote above And no more insulting of my genitals please. Now please, for the love of Rupert Neve, stop shitting up this thread if you have nothing to add and just want to argue. To those who don't hear any difference: I wish I didn't cause I love Ableton's workflow. I merely uploaded the recordings to showcase what I'm hearing when I'm using the live audio playback engine of Ableton, not as indefinite proof in the DAW wars - I could care less if others hear the same shit. If you hear the same discrepancies and want to understand why ( not that "testing" was done wrong) that's the reason I made this thread, cause clearly many professionals with good ears hear the same thing. If you chalk it up to me doing the "wrong" type of testing, cool. If you didn't I don't understand why you and others are still shitting up this thread and wasting space. My question: did you actually do the same test I asked people to do? Meaning: having both DAWs open at the same time and playing back the same file? Did you hear a difference? If you believe they sound the same that's cool. I never intended to make this thread to prove anything.
